Dear Friends,

Tuesday’s meeting (March 10th) will be held at Londel’s Supper Club located at Frederick Douglas Blvd between 139th and 140th streets. Stop by, have a drink or order some food and help plan events for St. Nicholas Park in 2009. We have a lot on our agenda including helping plan for the Easter Festival in April. Friends Monthly Meeting this Tuesday, March 10th

The Friends of St. Nicholas Park are holding our monthly meeting next Tuesday, March 10th at 7pm at St. Mark’s Church. St. Mark’s Church is located at 55 Edgecombe Avenue at the intersection of 137th Street, Edgecombe and St. Nicholas Avenues. At this meeting we’ll be planning for our exciting Easter Festival which will take place on Saturday April 11th. We need volunteers to help us plan the arts and crafts, Easter Egg hunt, and someone to be our Easter Bunny!

Also, Sarah Fort from Partnership for Parks will be at our meeting letting our community know about the Partnership Academy which helps train community leaders in organizing events, fundraising, and more.

Please spread the word and bring a friend or two! Bring your ideas about events at the Hamilton Grange, or other areas of the park.

Don’t miss this important opportunity to direct your questions and concerns to the Borough President. Let your voice be heard on issues that impact the quality of life for you and all residents of Hamilton Heights. How has the current economic crises impacted services to our neighborhood? What are your concerns on affordable housing, open spaces, parks, schools, after-school programs, police/safety, transportation, sanitation, social service programs? Let us make sure BP Scott Stringer is aware of our concerns and that Hamilton Heights/West Harlem receives its fair share and is not underserved in the Mayor’s plan/budget for the city.

Hamilton Grange Convent Avenue Garden Meeting, Tues. March 3rd

The National Parks Service and Hamilton Grange will unveil a design proposal for the temporary garden at the former site of Alexander Hamilton’s home on March 3rd from 6:30pm to 8pm at the Convent Avenue Baptist Church. The design proposal The design proposal is the result of collaboration between PS 153, the Boys & Girls Club of Harlem, the Horticultural Society of New York and the NPS. The National Park Foundation is supporting the design process through a grant from its First Bloom program. To request more information, please contact National Park Service staff at (212) 666-1640.

The Friends of St. Nicholas Park are holding our monthly meeting next Tuesday, July 8th at 7pm at St. Mark’s Church. St. Mark’s Church is located at 55 Edgecombe Avenue at the intersection of 137th Street, Edgecombe and St. Nicholas Avenues. This is an important meeting because we need lots of volunteers to make our exciting summer events happen! Below is a list of areas our group needs help in.

Please spread the word and bring a friend or two! Some of our new events this year include the possibility of hosting an art fair. We are still in need volunteers for our always popular Historic Harlem Parks Film Festival which happens July 22 and 23rd in the Plaza.

Website Developer: someone who can help us update our website and blog with our events in our park.

Events Promoter: someone to volunteer to hang posters in local stores, recreation centers and our park’s bulletin boards to help us promote our events and meetings.

Flyer/Advertising Designer: The Friends have an opportunity to create ads and printed posters for our events. Unfortunately, we need a designer with some time to help us in this endeavor.

Event Volunteers: For our events, we need help in promoting the park to event attendees as well as gathering email addresses for our mailing lists.

Dear Friends,

We are holding our monthly meeting this Tuesday 7pm at St. Mark’s Church. St. Mark’s Church is located at 55 Edgecombe Avenue at the intersection of 137th Street, Edgecombe and St. Nicholas Avenues. This is an important meeting because we need lots of volunteers to make our exciting summer events happen! Please spread the word and bring a friend or two! Some of our new events this year include the possibility of hosting an art fair. We are need volunteers for our always popular Historic Harlem Parks Film Festival.

Next Saturday, May 17th is It’s My Park! Day in St. Nicholas Park. This day is devoted to planting trees, painting fences, and getting the park ready for its summer use. We need as many people as ever to help our gardener keep up our beautiful park. The event is from 11am to 4pm throughout the park. An information table will be set up in the plaza providing info and water to participants.

WE NEED HELP SPREADING THE WORD ABOUT ITS MY PARK DAY!

We have uploaded posters that you can download and make copies of to help us promote this event around St. Nicholas Park. Instructions are below:

1. Go to: http://groups.google.com/group/Friends-of-St-Nicholas-Park/files

2. Download the File called IMP_Poster_English.pdf or IMP_Poster_Spanish.pdf

3. Print out the poster on your printer, or save to a CD or email a copy to your local print shop.

4. On the lower part of the poster be sure to write: “11am-4pm St. Nicholas Park 135th Street Plaza“

5. Then take these posters and help us spread the word by placing posters in your buildings lobby, at your favorite coffee shop, your church, or your school, etc. (always get permission before hanging them though).
